McCartney brings Promise Keepers back to Colorado

BOULDER  Retired University of Colorado football coach Bill McCartney is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Promise Keepers, by bringing one of the Christian group’s conferences to Folsom Field on the CU campus.
Until now Promise Keepers has focused on men, reaching five and a half million husbands and fathers since its’ founding. This year, however, guys are encouraged to bring the women in their lives to the event.

McCartney, who appeared on 9News at 8 a.m., explained that the focus of the July 31 and August 1 conference will be encouraging Christian men to respect wives, daughters, and sisters.

"Proverbs 31:31 says, ‘take a virtuous woman to the city gates and celebrate her.’ God always intended that we’d raise the bar and we would rally around women who are walking the strait and narrow," McCartney said.

According to the former coach, the event will also prompt attendees to be a tangible blessing to the poor and oppressed and to embrace their Messianic Jewish brothers as their spiritual fathers in the faith.

"We are going to connect with Jews in a way that God always intended and the Bible promises when you do that the presence of God will come. So we are expecting an extraordinary outpour of God’s Holy Spirit," McCartney explained.
