Sincere questions that I would appreciate input :)
Would anyone be able to explain "Messianic Dance", whether it’s your own experience or just know what it is….other than dancing very festively to "Hava Nagila (one of my favorite songs just for the sheer happiness it instantly brings), I would love to know more.
Thanks!

I was wondering about other Jews, like myself, who may have grown up just knowing a Protestant faith, but have begun to worship in a Messianic way.
I know, appreciate and love the many gentiles who love Jesus and His people , however, I would greatly appreciate a jewish insight and experience.
Thanks!
Yeshua Ha’Masshia Maranantha!

Kelly Maria Gazendam commented on February 17, 2009: I also grew up in Protestant circles and have come to discover that I have a great grandmother who is Jewish (ancestor from the Halocaust who married into our Dutch family). I am recently drawn to the Messianic teachings and am appalled that I know so little of Scripture in light of Jewish teaching and traditions! What you take for granted, we are just beginning to see! I am humbled. |

Levi commented on February 16, 2009: Messianic Dance and/or dance as a form of praise is a response in a series of events which are called worship.... Remember, song, dance, prayers, reverent silence, raising hands, bowing the head...all of these are responses to God of thankfulness and so are called praise and separate elements in the completeness of formal worship. The elements of worship are 5-fold according to Dr. Meecha & his teaching and they are the: 1. Call to Worship 2. Reading of the Word 3. Response 4. Sacrifice 5. Communal Meal So, I believe dance would fall under #3 in the response by us humans to God's goodness and faithfulness. Dance is good! It is Biblical! But, it comes as part of the package in the totality of worspping God. |
eyecore7 commented on February 15, 2009: I have been with the Messianic movement for over thirty years and I have seen it evolve positively and negatively. I grew up within Jewish circles and I love the Israeli Dance Music. I have seen the Messianic Dance grow out of this using the same steps to the worship music. I have seen the dance and the banners misused and for that reason our congregation did not use them in our service. I have revised my thinking over the years. Jews do NOT dance in Temple. Period. They used to before the Temple was destroyed. Since then, there is no dancing because there is nothing to rejoice in. As Messianics, we are NOW the temple housing the Ruach HaKodesh. We can now rejoice and be glad. At Temple Aviv Judea [TAJ] we open and close the service with the Dance. There is a danger to have the dancing distract from the One we are worshiping. I believe the dancing transitions nicely to the music worship. The dancing and the Singing of worship music are beautiful ways of expressing our love and worship to Him. |
rosealiyah commented on February 15, 2009: I am known by many and to Yahweh, as "The Rose," and I am a warrior in the dance. The Lord also uses me to lift a banner for the ingathering of the nations, in particular, the Sephardic Jews, of which I am one. As far as the Messianic dance goes, when we dance in a circle, we dance in unity and strength. It is an offering of our bodies, hearts and minds to Yeshua, as a community. When I dance, I praise with excellence, for He deserves nothing less. When I dance the "War Dance," I do not smile, for when at war, we do not smile. I pray and intercede for people and needs and Adonai is faithful. Praise him with the dance and tambourines - it pleases him!! He loves lively and colorful praise!!! |
