Lakeland Outpouring

Shalom Y’all,

What do you think about the Lakeland Outpouring in Florida?  We went to it last month and have been watching it every night on GodTV.com and the healings are miraculous.  This is being seen all over the world "live".  Never has this been done before.  I am Messianic and my dad’s grandmother was a Sefardic from Spain.  We have a Messianic congregation beginning again in Eureka Springs, Arkansas where we’ll be moving back to next month.  Our calling has been to challenge the church to return to its’ biblical Hebraic roots.  We’ve been Messianic ministers since 1999 and have celebrated Passover and all the feasts each year.  But we refuse to be dead and religious!  Yeshua walked in the power of the Ruach HaKodesh and we can go the same.

Getting back to the Lakeland Revival, I had problems with the tattoos on Todd Bentley at first and still do somewhat.  But I believe the when you believe the Word and obey it, God honors your faith.  This is why healings are taking place in dramatic ways in Lakeland.  Blinded eyes are opening, deaf ears popping open and cancer in 4th stages are literally drying up and disappearing.

Messianics need to preach all the Bible and then we’ll see miracles in our own services as well.  Nobody wants to come to a dead, religious service where nothing supernatural ever happens.  We serve a mighty God (El Shaddai) who is still in the miracle working business if we’d only allow Him to move.

People are hurting and need ministry.  They followed Yeshua and were healed.  He is the same yesterday, today and forever.  Amen.

I was amazed at the signs and wonders, as if to call fire down from heaven! Where do I sign up?

I was watching the Lakeland Outpouring and realized that Todd was invocating angels in one of his sermons and in another, he kicked a man in the stomach who had stomache cancer. The man was in a lot of pain. These are not the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Then, some people came forward and admitted there were healing plants in the audience, thus fake healings. I would stay away from this. Shalom.

I have read several comments about this. My own view is do not try to judge this person since Jeshua has already taught us that you can know if someone is false prophet or not from his/her fruits. Since some people claim that they would after the healing having repentance while others claim they don't then I thought we must be very careful about this. The best practice is if I am not sure of him, then do not put ourselves or our trust in him but put it in Jeshua and all of Jeshua's teaching...

I had not heard of Todd Bentley, but now that I have it's just one more of those signs that to tell us to keep looking up. The really good news about Todd is that it convinces me the Lord is returning soon.

Well put Dov, but what ais the Messianic Community going to do with all these Messianic leaders who were singin' Bentley's praises? Do they just walk away and it's over. There has been a terrible display of bentleyisms in the MJAA lately and nobody wants to address that? What a shame....at least you are a bit safer and further away from our North American wolves...I am glad he's not coming over to bother you too!

dovofthegalilee commented on September 25, 2008:

Todd Bentley is an anti-Christ. If you've been taken in by his ways you need to repent and seek deliverance for the spiritual deception you've come under. Is that bold enough? The man is assaulting people for goodness sakes and yet everyone seems OK with this? And look at his own testimonies, he's speaking with entities i.e. demons and yet everyone is OK with this too? Then there are those who claim they are 'Torah Observant' who idolize this man~ what does the Torah say about tattoos? Can this really be the Holy Spirit? Not in a million years. At least we here in Israel can take a deep breath and be thankful that he will not becoming in November as he intended his separation from his wife made sure of that.

I am pretty appalled at what went on at the MJAA Conference this summer concerning this very topic. There were Messianic Rabbis teaching that this is the real thing and they even went on to pray for resurrection for a man who had died that day in very inappropriate manner…literally demanding a resurrection and having the people shout louder and louder….to what end…this is all very disturbing the MJAA leadership needs to repent of this and I am surprised no one has brought it up? Is everybody blind?

For those who may wish to consider further ramifications of this and like "revivals," I did place an article called the 'Desperation Factor' on my Fellowship's website. www.mayimchayim.co.uk Regards, Malc

Can we say Toronto Blessing redux? Same old same old.

MissEmma88 commented on July 22, 2008:

Bentley’s teachings show that he is very dangerous spiritually...he has placed much emphasis on angels, third heaven experiences, and has experiences where his spirit left his body which is known to New Agers as astral projection. Could Bentley be even more than just a spiritual danger? Could he be leading his followers down the same course that Jim Jones led the People’s Temple in 1978 to the greatest mass cult suicide in history? After all, no one ever thought Jones would go to the extent he did by getting 918 people to commit suicide through drinking kool-aid laced with cyanide...this is not stuff to mess around with.

I watched a bit of this on the Internet and what struck me was the numerous "angels" references throughout Todd Bentley's time on stage. Todd did read for the lectern, but not a word was read from the Bible, rather from a letter of supposed prophecy about what God was doing. What was obviously absent is any reason to bring a Bible to a service or any call for repentance, which is really what a true revival is - repentance. Without the Bible and repentance, I can do without this so-called "revival."

Daria commented on July 21, 2008:

On Second thought, I just looked up some information on Todd Bentley...and he is definately not Kosher. Some of his visions are really creepy, and he claims to receive messages from a female angel named "Emma"...whenever angels appear in the Bible, they're always in the form of men. Also, several of his supposed healings are false. Frankly, he doesn't line up with the Bible. You can find more information yourself if you look it up. And the Bible warns us of people in latter days deceiving others by claiming to be of God. It says the deception will be so strong, that even some of the elect may be led astray. That's sooo serious. We need to be soooo on guard, and walk in the narrow gate.

Daria commented on July 21, 2008:

It's hard to say...I don't like passing judgment on whether something is or is not of the Ruach. Let's just remember to test the spirits...make sure that what we see and hear is always in accordance with the God's Word - the Torah. Although the Ruach does give ability for miracles, the Scripture also teaches that one of the roles of the Spirit is to convict people of sin. Repentance and turning to God's commandments is an important result of the Holy spirit working in people's lives. See John 16:8. Miracles are not the only function of the Ruach, but one of them.

Glasspole commented on July 21, 2008:

I am absolutely certain about this thing. Bear in mind what we KNOW about the character of The Almighty. Is there a Biblical mandate for: Kicking people? Making animal noises? Losing self control? Making prophecies that do not happen? Getting tattoos? Getting piercings? If the answer is "Yes", then please point me to those passages which unequivocally support these things. If the answer is "No", then no more needs to be said.

I am all for God working on people for His Glory...I am just a little bit concerned there might be some people working God for their glory....The jury is still out...if it is not from God we will know....

Irishwanderer commented on July 13, 2008:

Lakeland! I didn't see this yet but our God is a God of healing however there are many false prophets in the world. Lets sit back and see what happens in Lakeland. Tattoos aren't a disqualifier since they are hard to remove however is this the true Ruach or a false spirit does it product holiness in the life of the believer. I saw the old Toronto blessing "move" of spirit and all they talked about was the spirt and hardly mentioned Jesus at all. Many people say The spirit came when they got emotionally charged over something. Lets watch and see what kind of fruit it produces.

Levi commented on July 13, 2008:

I am not sure this is an out pouring of the Spirit...I saw Todd Bentley and all I saw in the people was a lot of emotionalism...remember our feelings are not the Holy Spirit
