Root of David

The Root of David refers to Isaiah’s prophecy in which the Messiah is to come from King David’s lineage. The Gospel of Matthew begin with the description of Yeshua’s family tree, "The record of the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah, the son of David, son of Abraham…"

In the Old Covenant

"A shoot will spring from the stem of Jesse, And a branch from his roots will bear fruit… And in that day the nations will resort to the root of Jesse, who will stand as a signal for the peoples; and His resting place will be glorious."
- Isaiah 11:1-10

In the New Covenant

"After He had removed him, He raised up David to be their king, concerning whom He also testified and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after my heart, who will do all my will.’ From the descendants of this man, according to promise, God has brought to Israel a Savior, Jesus."
- Acts 13:22-23
